Getting On and Off The Bus:
Please have exact fare ready when boarding the bus. Our drivers carry no change or
tokens.
Transfers: If you need to change buses to get to your destination, please ask the driver for a transfer when you board the bus as you pay your fare. But remember, the transfer slip is only good for two hours after you receive it. The driver will give you a ticket which you must give to the driver of the next bus. Pass holders do not need transfers. Holidays: GPTC does not operate on Sundays or on New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Please Don't Smoke on the Bus: No Smoking on the bus is a law each of us can follow as a courtesy to others and to help the bus cleaner. Your GPTC Lost & Found Service: If you lose an item, call 884-6100 Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m to 11:00 p.m.. If you find an item, give it to your bus driver. All items are held for thirty (30) days and can be identified and claimed within that time at GPTC, 2101 West 35th Avenue, Gary Indiana. Using Your Schedule: The time points on our schedules will tell you when your bus will be at your stop. GPTC makes every effort to operate on schedule, so be sure you are at your stop a couple minutes early. Watches and clocks seldom agree, and a minute or so may make all the difference. Flagging Your Bus: Almost every corner along the route is a bus stop, people standing at a corner may not be waiting for the bus. The driver can only be sure you are a bus rider if you wave at him as he approaches. Flagging eliminates unnecessary stops and guarantees you faster, more efficient bus service. So wave, ride and enjoy. We make these suggestions because GPTC is your bus system. We want you to ride safely and comfortably, rely on us to get you there efficiently and conveniently.
