GPTC is committed to providing you with quality service by offering the
same safe, clean, reliable, efficient and courteous transportation services
that fixed route riders are afforded.
What is Paratransit? Paratransit
Service is complementary service provided by the Gary Public Transportation
Corporation (GPTC) to Gary residents who are unable to use regular bus
service due to a disability. Residents who are eligible for Paratransit
Service can ride to and from any location within GPTC’s service area. All
Paratransit vehicles are accessible to people with disabilities and have
wheelchair lifts and securement devices.
What does It cost to ride? The
fare for one-way trips on Paratransit is $2.50 within the City of Gary
boundary and $4.00 outside the city limits.

What are the hours of
service? Paratransit provides service during GPTC’s regular hours
Monday through Friday 4:50 a.m.- 9:30 p.m. Saturday 8:00
Requests for service can be made by calling Monday through Saturday, 8:00
a.m.4:00 p.m. The ADA contact number is (219) 884-6100 ext 113. If visiting
GPTC’s Operations Facility, please dial (219) 884-6100 ext 0 if assistance is
needed in gaining security access at GPTC’s main gate.
Can I travel outside of
Gary? GPTC’s Service Area includes: Hammond, East Chicago 3
quarter of mile area south of U.S. 30 between Taft St. and Pine Island Apartments.
• 3 quarter of mile area south of 93rd avenue between the areas of Taft St.
and Broadway and; 3 quarter of mile area west of 93rd and Taft / 3 quarter of
a mile East of 93rd and Broadway.
